Charge comes from the blower down the center tube and is distributed to the heads view the ports visible. Note the heavy mesh screen - that is the backfire screen and prevents backfire energy (or fire) from reaching the blower. (Allison engines have a history of cracking blower cases during backfire - they do not have the screens.)
