January 1, 2007 - Hoses
Hose construction for the engine was the focus of the day.
The display engine was used as a template for hose lengths. Hoses are high pressure aircraft grade, with A/N aluminum fittings.
The hose is first cut to length using a chop saw and cutoff wheel. The outer portion of the fitting is lubricated and pressed onto the hose. The inside of the hose is lubricated and screwed into place.
This is a taper fit, and thus compresses the hose between the the inner and outer portions of the fitting, holding it in place. It is important to be sure the hose does not back out during this process.
