Take-apart in Redmond, WA (July-August 2000)

This began the first, real serious take-apart phase on the boat. Before much was taken off, shaft angle, engine rail angle, and other critical dimensions not well documented were measured.

The first thing to come off was the deck. The next thing to go were the battens. We had to be careful while removing them, because much of the bow and the sponsons were so rotten that they flexed when you walked on them! There was a good possibility of falling through!

Finally what was left of the running gear came off. The rudder bracket was the original, and possibly the struts. However, they are not currently in usable condition, and were difficult to get off because of the amount of corrosion.

In the pictures, you will notice that the inside of the boat has been painted brown. This was done at some point after the boat left Bardahl, and before it arrived at Kurt's. This is a brown epoxy based paint. This was not original on the boat and will eventually be stripped off. David Smith started work on that during this work session.
