April 14, 2009: Seattle Test Session
On April 14, 2009 the Miss Bardahl tested on Lake Washington from the Stan Sayer's pits. The water was open from 1100-1400. This was in conjunction with the Unlimited Lights & 1955 Miss Thriftway.
The Miss Bardahl was the first in the water, and the first to take the course. One ride were given, and three propellers tested, for a total of four runs. Of the three hours of available water time, the Miss Bardahl ran for over 35 minutes.
- Steve Bergerson: Long-time Miss Bardahl fan
- Baseline Propeller: The balance of the test session was used to evaluate two new propellers. In order to get a good comparison, Dixon went out solo for a run with a known good prop. This provided a solid baseline for comparisons to be made.
- Prop #1 trail: New (to the team) propeller #1 is installed & tested. A few warm-up laps at low speed were performed to assess water conditions and boat handling with the new propeller. The a few high speed runs were conducted to assess straightaway speed, acceleration and cornering.
- Prop #2 trial: A second "new" (to the team) prop is installed and tested. This prop is quickly termed the team's "Movie Prop." This is due to the fact it makes a giant roostertail and lots of noise (allows the engine to rev up), but doesn't go fast at all.
The event was successful in that everyone had a good time, nothing broke, and everything went smoothly.
