April 19, 2002
Note that the pictures in this update represent a large time frame, as they were taken over time with a camera kept with the boat, and thus may overlap with other updates.
Work continued on two fronts: mocking up the sponson frame templates, and installing the wooden portion of the bottom.
The sponsons were very badly damaged, and thus were not salvageable. The original frames will be used as templates for the new frames. Before these are built, however, mockups will first be used to confirm the sponson geometry.
The bottom consists of several plywood panels. Each is sealed with epoxy, and the panels are scarfed together. Once these are firmly in-place (glued & screwed), an aluminum skin will be bonded over the bottom.
