The big project this time was laying the keel. The keel was scarfed together from a couple pieces of oak. We used a transit sight to make sure the boat was square before laying the keel.
Several of the frames have a spruce shim on them which is notched out for the keel. For structural purposes the keel is larger than the original, so these shims allow for that without changing the dimensions of the boat.
The other project of the day was working on the sides, and even preparing some aluminum for the back. The right side is original, but the left had to be replaced because of dry rot.
