November 28, 2003 - Boat Overview
This is the final update before the deck is placed on the boat. Hence, this section features a detailed look at the hull as of November 28, 2003. Because of the level of detail, this update has been organized by general categories, and sub-divided by specific categories.
This set of pictures is designed to give a broad overview of the entire boat. The sponson and main frames are visible, as well as the stringers, bottom structure and deck frames. Aluminum angle was used to reinforce the boat in all corners including: frame-to-side, frame-to-stringer, and frame-to-bottom.
Next week the boat will be hung upside down so that the inside can be coated with a special epoxy based clear-coat. This coat has the look of several coats of varnish, and will seal and protect the wood. All the wood components in the boat have already been sealed individually with West System before being put in place, but this final coat will ensure everything is protected.
