At the end of this work session the deck was completely glassed. The one layer of 8 oz. glass had been precut, and was held in place with West System epoxy.
The glass was laid on the deck, and then soaked in West System epoxy and the excess squeegeed off. When this layer began to tack, another layer of West System was added. This processes of flow coating was continued until there were at least 5 layers of West System on top of the glass. This allowed for the texture of the glass to be filled in and a smooth deck resulted. The process took from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm.
The glass will significantly help to strengthen the deck and the whole boat, yet is relatively light.
The deck will be sanded next week, and primer rolled on shortly after.
