After sitting a week to allow the paint to fully cure, the hull was placed on the trailer for the trek back to the workshop in Redmond, WA. Jeff Campbell, Mike Campbell, John Rheinberger, and John Rice did the majority of the work on painting the hull. Several of the original crew members have stated that the boat never looked this good when it was racing!
While the painting of the hull was taking place, painting of the cowl also began; the oil tank was finished as well. Since these pictures were taken, the cups on the back of the sponsons have been fitted, water pick-ups for the sponsons built, and work on the windshield has begun. The original windshield will be used as a mold for a new one.
On a separate note, banks for the engine arrived during the painting.
More updates will be coming, although they will be very sporadic until the U-boat season comes to an end.
